Dr. Law assumed position of the Director of Technology Transfer Center cum Chief Executive Officer of HKUST R and D Corporation Limited at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in April, 2018, with responsibilities for the University’s intellectual property management, patent portfolio development, patent licensing, academic-industrial collaboration, technology commercialization and technology based entrepreneurship, startup incubation and funding schemes.
Dr. Law began his career as the Technology Manager for a start-up company specializing in the commercialization of nanomaterials in British Columbia Canada in 2001. He has since acquired solid experience in industrial research and development programs that cover various technical fields in nanotechnology, advanced materials and clean technologies. He has been involved in managing both internal technology development programs as well as collaborative technical programs with industry including multi-national corporations such as Motorola and BASF, universities as well as various Canadian government departments. His expertise includes program development and management, academic-industrial collaborations, as well as IP strategy development. He joined HKUST in 2010 as Development Manager in Technology Transfer Center, with primary responsibility in the area of market development and commercialization of advanced materials, nanotechnology, energy and green technology, environmental engineering, chemical processing and related areas.
Dr. Law received a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia Canada.
