HKUST Online Innovation Challenge on Smart Ageing and GeronTechnology
Powered by Humansa, Eureka Nova and New World Development

A chance to win up to HKD 40,000 cash prizes and to collaborate with the New World Group to launch your project!

HInnovation Challenge is a competition that aims to stimulate students' creativity in developing ideas in gerontechnologies for the Greater Bay Area (GBA) (Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong) silver hair market. This Challenge offers participants to:

  • understand the opportunities and challenges in an ageing society;
  • develop feasible business ideas and potentials in gerontechnologies and innovations to promote smart living and smart ageing; and
  • explore potential to establish business and entrepreneurship collaboration with industry experts and service providers.

 

1. Eligibility

  • Current students from universities in HKSAR and other cities in the GBA*
  • Teams of 2 to 5 with members from any of the universities in the GBA*
    *Team applications with students from non-GBA areas will still be considered, given at least one of the members is from universities in the GBA.

 

2. Application

  • Apply online to enter the challenge by 3 April 2020  8 April 2020 (Extended Application Deadline)
  • Please submit one application per team; the applicant would be considered as the main contact person of the team.
  • Applicants will be notified of entry confirmation by 10 April 2020

 

3. Schedule

  • 18 March 2020: Briefing Session with sharing by guest speakers from Eureka Nova and Humansa (Click here to view the video recording of the Briefing Session) (Powerpoint slides of sharing by Eureka Nova and Humansa)
  • 8 April 2020: Application Deadline (Extended)
  • 10 April 2020, 2:30pm: Announcement of Challenge Questions and Case Briefing via Zoom (*Please check email for Zoom details)
  • 13 - 19 April 2020: First Round- 7 days to crack the cases and upload a 10-page PPT presentation deck here
  • 27 April 2020: First Round Result Announcement (result will be announced via email by the end of the day)
  • 27 April - 1 May 2020: Preparation for Final Round (10 finalist teams will receive mentoring to fine-tune and optimize ideas, product concept and presentation decks)
  • 4 - 7 May 2020 (to be confirmed): Final Presentation and Result Announcement (10-min presentation*, followed by a 5-min Q&A)
    (*face-to-face presentation for teams with members residing in HKSAR; online for those residing in other cities of GBA and do not have members representing to present in HKSAR)

5. Perks and Prizes

    1. Champion:  HKD 20,000
    2. First Runner-Up: HKD 10,000
    3. Second Runner-Up: HKD 5,000
    4. Most Creative Award: HKD 3,000
    5. Most Business Fitting Idea: HKD 2,000
